@Acoustic Sounds : This title (Spring is Here) replaces the previous Stan Getz — The Dolphin but is taken from the same awesome 1981 live session from the Keystone Club in San Francisco. It features the same musicians — Stan Getz (tenor), Lou Levy (piano), Monty Budwig (bass) and Victor Lewis (drums).
@Wikipedia : “It Might as Well Be Spring” is a song from the 1945 film State Fair. With music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year. State Fair was the only original film score by Rodgers and Hammerstein. In the film the song was sung by Jeanne Crain, who played Margy Frake.
@Amazon : : It was the genius of George Howard portrayed in early cd’s such as this that propelled him to continue his work. While you could say that some of the sound heard here is funky, George Howard’s complex style far exceeds most sax out there today. “A Tear of Spring” is very fine.

@Joshua Redman : In the album’s liner notes, Joshua writes, “These songs (among them “It Might as Well Be Spring”) don’t just move me as a listener; they engage me as a player, improviser, arranger, and bandleader. They’re just ten great songs, written by ten great songwriters. Ten great songs, resilient enough to change with the times and with the artists who change them.”

@EW.com : The songwriter Sammy Cahn says in notes to the “There’ll Be Another Spring” album that Peggy Lee can make any song seem greater than it is. That might help explain why she sounds so poised throughout this 38-year retrospective of songs she wrote herself. The new ones, such as ”Circle in the Sky,” are feeble compared to her ’50s and ’60s standards, and even those standards — ”Fever,” ”Johnny Guitar” — aren’t exactly Cole Porter
@Toots Thielemans : Originated new sound : Whistling and guitar in unison. - Whistler for commercials : Best known “Old Spice”. - Harmonica soloist for film scores: Midnight Cowboy, The Getaway,. Sugarland Express, Cinderella Liberty, Turks Fruit, Jean de Florette
@All About Jazz : : Growing up in a vaudeville family, Sims learned to play both drums and clarinet at an early age. His father was a vaudeville hoofer, and Sims prided himself on remembering many of the steps his father taught him.
