@Zero G Sound : When Weill was in his teens the director of the Dessau Hoftheater, Albert Bing, encouraged him in the study of music. Weill briefly studied composition with Engelbert Humperdinck and was already working professionally as a conductor when he attended composer Ferruccio Busoni’s master classes in Berlin.
@The Kurt Weill Foundation for Music. : Actress and singer. Married to Weill in 1926, Lotte Lenya appeared in several of his works. After his death, she dedicated herself to promoting, performing, and recording his compositions. Also remembered for her portrayal of Rosa Klebb in From Russia With Love and of Fräulein Schneider in Cabaret on Broadway.

Four years after Weill’s death, Marc Blitzstein’s English-language version of Der Dreigroschenoper became a hit off-Broadway in New York as The Threepenny Opera, starring Lotte Lenyz, sparking a revival of interest in Weill’s work.
